1) XP AutoPlay Fix Tool From MS

Mopy asked - Running win XP Home. When I put a cd in the drive it used to open up an Auto play window now it does not, I have tried r/click drive and selected the the auto drive to no avail can you help.

Foreman replied:
You can get the fix here:

http://infoprosjoint.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=getit&lid=61

*** The file in the pack above is called autofix.exe and is 78,160 bytes. One can get the file directly from Microsoft by going to www.microsoft.com and entering autofix.exe in the search box and then going to Download Details: AutoPlay Wizard or by searching for AutoPlay.

Please note that with any fix it utility, even from MS, there is no guarantee that it will work. This one tho wont make things any worse.

2) Free FTP Server Software

Murgi inquired - I have a client who wants to send or retrieve large files. I was asked whether I have my own FTP Server. Could someone please recommend any Server software that is easy and not too complicated to set up and maneuver within? All I expect is that the client gets access to a file area on my computer via a password any time it is convenient for him.

3) Floppy Drive Grind After Saving To Disk

willshak posted - Win XP Home SP2. I saved a small file to my floppy drive and now, whenever I shut down, or start up, or access my Documents and settings folder, the floppy drive rattles like it is trying to read a floppy although there is none in there.

*** One can try:

Clearing the Recent Documents
Inserting the original or even any old disk and let it read it
Turning off floppy disk scan in your anti-virus. One can turn it back on later
Clearing out your windows temp/tmp folders

Most of the time tho it's clearing out [My] Recent Documents that does the trick. Most of the time this happens when folks create/work/modify a doc via the floppy drive. It's nice tho if working with a doc that you have on a floppy to first save it to your hard drive in whatever folder you want. Then work the document from there. When you're done, then copy it to the floppy. This way will guarantee that you have a copy on your HDD in case the floppy fails [read error] on the pc it's next used on.

4) How To Remove Listings From Add/Remove

SHEREE wrote - I recently installed a few Sims expansion packs and then I deleted all the files. When I go to Add/Remove programs, they are still listed in there (with 0 MB). When I click on them to remove nothing happens. I have removed ALL Sims files from my computer manually. So how do I remove the programs from the Add/Remove [Listing]?

The steps are provided below. As per your question, you only need to follow the opening info. The rest is added if needed. Good luck!
